In 2024, Grand Seiko introduced the Caliber 9SA4, a 10-beat movement that brought together precision, durability, and the joy of hand-winding in a modern form. Today, that story continues with a new creation that evokes Japanese nature under the quiet glow of the moon, the Grand Seiko SLGW007.

The dial is where the artistry of this watch truly shines. Its textured surface is patterned after the bark of a birch tree, a motif that has become emblematic of Grand Seiko’s “The Nature of Time” philosophy. Here, the dial pattern of SLGW007 is rendered in a deep navy hue, evoking the sight of birch trees illuminated by moonlight. This interplay of texture and color creates a dial that shifts in character with the light, embodying both serenity and depth.

At the heart of this new timepiece is the manual-winding Caliber 9SA4, which beats at a rate of 36,000 vibrations per hour to ensure stable precision. It delivers a power reserve of up to 80 hours and maintains an accuracy of +5 to –3 seconds per day in static conditions. With 47 jewels and a construction designed for long-term reliability, Caliber 9SA4 is a fitting successor in Grand Seiko’s tradition of high-beat craftsmanship.

Visible through the sapphire case back, the movement also features a power reserve indicator, a discreet yet practical refinement that underscores the harmony of form and function. The act of winding has been carefully engineered for a distinct feel, giving the wearer a deeper connection to the watch.

The stainless steel case measures 38.6mm in diameter, 45mm in length, and just 9.95mm in thickness, making this one of the slimmest Evolution 9 mechanical models to date. Its box-shaped sapphire crystal adds depth to the dial while keeping the profile sleek, and the push crown preserves the clean silhouette. The soft cow leather strap blends with the dial to reinforce the image of a white birch illuminated by the moon. With a three-fold clasp, the watch offers both comfort and understated sophistication.

Introduced in 2020, the Evolution 9 Style represents a new design language for Grand Seiko. In this creation, its principles are expressed with dress watch proportions. The bezel is narrow and refined, while the lugs extend cleanly from the case and echo the rhythm of the applied indexes. The result is a design that is unmistakably Grand Seiko, yet distinctively contemporary.
