Grand Seiko’s pursuit of precision and beauty finds fresh expression in a new chronograph that draws inspiration from the natural world. Created in the Evolution 9 Style, the limited-edition SLGC006 fuses the brand’s spirit with the aesthetic sensibilities of Japan.
The dial of the SLGC006 is patterned after Mt. Iwate, the peak visible from Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi where Grand Seiko mechanical watches are crafted. Rendered in a copper-pink tone, the dial captures the eye-catching glow of the mountain bathed in the light of morning. The dial’s embossed ridgeline pattern mirrors the slopes of Mt. Iwate, a design that has become a hallmark of Grand Seiko’s mechanical artistry. Broad, faceted indexes and hands ensure effortless legibility, while the three sub-dials balance functionality with refinement.
Measuring 43.2mm in diameter, 15.3mm in thickness, and 51.5mm in length, the case unites strength with sophistication. It is constructed from High-Intensity Titanium for lightness and durability, accented with 18k rose gold and ceramic for contrast and resilience. The Zaratsu-polished surfaces, box-shaped sapphire crystal, and integrated bracelet with a three-fold clasp underscore the unity of design and wearability. A screw-down crown and 100-meter water resistance ensure practicality for daily use.
At the heart of this timepiece is the Caliber 9SC5, a next-generation chronograph movement that vibrates at 36,000 beats per hour. This high-frequency caliber delivers remarkable stability and accuracy, rated at +5 to –3 seconds per day in static conditions. Twin barrels provide a power reserve of approximately 72 hours, allowing the watch to run continuously for about three days even with the chronograph function engaged.
The vertical clutch ensures precise engagement of the chronograph seconds hand, eliminating any jump at the start of measurement. The column wheel offers smooth, reliable operation with every push of the pusher, while MEMS-fabricated components enhance durability and precision. These innovations combine to create a chronograph mechanism that is both robust and responsive, designed for long-term performance.
Limited to 300 pieces worldwide, the Grand Seiko SLGC006 will be available starting October 1, 2025.
