Uchida Koichi is a ceramic artist who is well-versed in ceramic techniques not only from Japan but also from around the world. He leads the contemporary Japanese ceramic art scene with his advanced techniques and an outstanding sense of style. His signature technique is “ka-sai,” an original technique developed by Uchida himself. The technique uses coarse clay containing many stones as a base, which is fired at a high temperature. Then, multiple new layers of clay and wood ashes are added and fired again at a high temperature. The complex textures that are born from it give a warmth like the earth.
This watch features a box-shaped sapphire crystal and a form reminiscent of the First Grand Seiko. The softly rounded ivory dial and hands curved to follow the shape of the dial are crafted in perfect harmony. Equipped with the hand-wound “Caliber 9S64” movement, this model stands out for its elegant and classic style.
